Bike Bus
Cycle Kettering's mission is to advocate, promote, and create opportunities for all forms of cycling in the city of Kettering, Ohio for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Cycle Kettering supports safe cycling especially for our youngest cyclists.
A bike bus is an organized group of people, typically children and parents, cycling together to school or work along a set route on a specific schedule. Operating like a school bus, it picks up participants at designated stops, providing safety in numbers, health benefits, and a fun, community-driven alternative to driving.
During a winter health and wellness fair at Kettering’s Southdale Elementary School there was interest among parents to pilot a “Bike Bus” event this spring for students to get to and from school. A team of parents led by Ashlyn Witt have organized Kettering's first Bike Bus on May 15, 2026. While some adult cyclists will be celebrating Bike to Work Day on May 15 children and parents at Southdale School will be riding the "Bike Bus" with the hopes of making this a weekly activity next school year beginning the fall of 2026.
